lilo boot
hey, does lilo have to be installed on the MBR for it to run on boot.
i have it installed on another partition, but im still booting from a boot disk and its annoying me

No, it doesn't. You need to toggle the bootable flag on the partition that lilo is on to 'true' (hint: 'fdisk'), and make sure all the others are false.
