Question Lilo and Grub menu list merger....

Here is the scope, I am trying to get several distros to work nicely together. However some have the bootloader by default set to lilo or grub. I want to know if and how I can merger entries on either to just one menu list. For instance take the menu that FC creates and merger it with what xandros (or a distro that uses lilo as the default) creates in order to boot any distro. I know I can just use boot floppies, however I am lazy and sometimes I just can't find them close by. Is there a generic form that lilo and grub follow....this way I can just plug in all the info I have. So far I have been emailing myself what each distro creates as a default menu list and have merged what I can into lilo or grub (which I prefer) menus. Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

Well, for the most part, lilo and grub should be compatible in the sense that what one can do the other can too. I know that isn't really true, but it should be true of most things, especially the things needed to boot your average distro. I can't give you a set of rules to follow which will always work to translate from lilo config to grub config, just too many options really. If you post all of them I may be able to merge them for you by hand, but I can't promise anything. Honestly, I think you should do it yourself: the more you do the more you learn. I honestly don't think you will find an easy "do this one thing" answer to your post. You, or someone else, will probably have to sort this out by hand.

Good luck!

thanks..

Thanks...that is what I am currently doing by emailing myself the menu/config and doing it by hand.
Why re-invent the wheel if someone already has a way...

If there are other ways to do it, please share anyone
