libstdc++.so.6
 

Hi,

Somebody help me, I've installed a server software on my Red Hat with kernel 2.4.20-8 on i686. When i started the software it got these problems,

error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Clementine Server failed to start

i've tried to download many rpm which conatins the said libstdc but same error ive encountered. how should i install if i got one? please help...

by the way the said Software requires the following:

=>libstdc++ package (version: libstdc++-3.4.3-XY.i386 where X.Y is 22.1 or later)
=>libgcc package (version: libgcc-3.4.3-X.Y.i386 where X.Y is 22.1 or later)
=>compat-libstdc++ package (version:compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-X.Y.i386)
where X.Y is 47.3 or later

Which version of RH is that? And where did you get the other server
from? And how did you install it?

Hi thanks for the immediate reply..i think this is RH 9.0. I got it from a CD installer. I installed it by logging in as root and ran the script ./install.sh with a default directory "/usr/clemsrv" after installing I ran the script "./clemsrv.sh start" inside the directory.

What do you get when you enter:
rpm -q libstdc++ libgcc compat-libstdc++
That will tell you your installed versions.

This is what i got:

libstdc++-3.2.2-5
libgcc-3.2.2-5
compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.118

Actually i've downloaded and installed so many rpm's that contains the specified requirement for the server software, i wonder these versions were not updated...

Your distro is very old and isn't supported anymore. If I were you, I'd download a newer Fedora Core version, or purchase the latest Red Hat Product.

Upgrading these packages may cause you to have to upgrade a lot more. One of the packages even includes ldconfig.

Red Hat stopped selling Red Hat distribution. Instead they sponsor the Fedora Core distribution which is available online. It is user supported. The Red Hat company produces and sells a corporate version of Red Hat and charges licensing fees for support.

One of the links on the Main Menu on this webpage will lead you to the Fedora Core ISOs. For some distro's you can use BitTorrent to download a dvd installation disk.
