Libre Office 5.3 will not launch from dock

Hi,
I am using Mint 18.1 & have just upgraded Libre Office up to version 5.3. I have Cairo Dock from which I launch my most used programs & Libre Office always launched fine from here but since the upgrade although it launches fine from the menu & works ok but when I drop a link onto the dock it fails to open. I can put links from any program onto this bar & they start fine, I do this by right clicking any program in the menu & selecting add to desktop & then dropping it from the desktop onto the Cairo dock bar.
Any idea's please.
Thanks.........

Does it launch correctly if you double click the launcher icon on the desktop (before you've dragged it to Cairo)?

If you right click on the desktop icon and then select properties, what is listed in the "Command" field?

Also, can I just confirm that you are talking about the general Libre Office link (similar to https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...n_Icon.svg.png), not the Libre Office Word link?

Finally, because we're talking potentially about desktop-related stuff, which desktop environment are you using?

Hi hydrurga,
Sorry for delay in replying, been working late.
Yes it launches correctly from desktop, command field is "libreoffice5.3 --writer %U"
It is just the word link I am trying to launch.
Thanks

Update.
After putting the link on the desktop & launching it by double clicking on it then dragging it to the dock it now works. I don't know why it's changed but I am marking it as solved.

thanks for your input.

Can you post the output from the following please in order to show what you have installed:

dpkg -l 'libreoffice*' | grep -v ^un

Edit: no need now. Glad you got it working!
