Libraries and dependencies

It seems everytime I try and install something on ubuntu or nubuntu that i have to install a thousand libraires that whatever i'm installing is dependent on. it gets old. Is there an easy way to install stuff everything it's dependent on

I am not familiar with Ubuntu, but doesnt sudo apt-get install , automagically take care of the dependencies for you?

Only a thousand?.....;)
This is the way of Linux--we call it "dependency hell"

The first thing to use should always be the package manager and repositories---this handles all of the dependencies. Luckily, you have picked a distro that has a very good system.

Depending on what you want to install, you may have to add some more repository links to you synaptic preferences.
