i am having a problem getting a program installed because it cannot find pcap.h....

i have tried installing libpcap a few different times, but it doesnt appear to work out for me. i am not sure if libpcap is installed incorrectly or if something else is wrong. any help would be appreciated!!

First check if you have pcap.h. The common location is /usr/include/pcap.h. It may be that you don't have it. If you don't try to find libpcap-devel, pcap-devel or one with a similar name (-devel or -dev is quite important here) on your distribution install cd and install it.

no the file is not in there. i will look on the CD for help. however i have tried installing it before...........

i have a downloaded source for Libpcap.......but i am not sure if it is installing right. is there a certain directory that it needs to be installed in?

i have been using ./configure or ./configure --prefix=/usr/include or about a million other variations with a large array of error messages.

i tried installing it by using the "apt-get" program built into freespire, but alas i think i failed again. i didnt show any signs of failing the install, but i have to think that if it installed correctly then i would be able to install accpal (the program that wont install because it needs libpcap).
