libldap.so.2 cannot open shared object file- No such file or directory

I'm running
Linux lnx3-228 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 15:51:48 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
red hat linux.

When I try to install ctags for vim editor, it gives me the following error.

error while loading shared libraries: libldap.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When I look into the /usr/lib folder, the file is naturally missing. I have this file.

[~/]@lnx3-228 [389]-> ls -al /usr/lib/libldap.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Nov 11 09:46 /usr/lib/libldap.so -> libldap-2.3.so.0.2.31

When I tried to rename the soft link to libldap.so.2 it gave me a segmentation fault.

Where do I install the packages from ?

Thanks,
Suhas.

How are you installing things ? ... if you used yum then the dependencies would have been installed as well

"libldap.so.2" is from an ancient openldap package. EL 3 ?

There is a compat package for CentOS 4 ( EL4 )
compat-openldap-2.1.30-12.el4

You can find it at http://rpm.pbone.net/
or http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.8/os/

http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.8/...el4.x86_64.rpm
..
