I am trying to install libid3tag but I get a few errors when compiling it in the terminal. I am running the new version of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS. Here is the error!

You should be able to get what you need by installing the libid3tag0 package at least that is what is named in Debian.

Code:

apt-cache search libid3tag
libid3tag0 - ID3 tag reading library from the MAD project
libid3tag0-dev - ID3 tag reading library from the MAD project

For your error on the configure if you still want to install from source you would need zlib1g-dev again in Debian, you may want to install the apt-file package and search for yourself. It works like apt-get in that you apt-file update as root then can apt-file search missing/file.h as normal user.

Code:

apt-file search zlib.h
[snip ....]
thunderbird-dev: usr/include/thunderbird/zlib/zlib.h
x11proto-xext-dev: usr/include/X11/extensions/lbxzlib.h
zlib1g-dev: usr/include/zlib.h

Thanks, but everything worked but this part, I got an error when I did apt-file search zlib.h. This is what I got..
Code:

root@Alex:~# apt - file search zlib.h
bash: apt: command not found

And can you explain it a little bit more more detailed, I am a begginner in Ubuntu so I need things explained, lol

Your putting two extra spaces in the command you have apt - file when it should be apt-file all one word no spaces before and after the hyphen.
