libiberty (binutils package)

i am trying to install a tool that required libiberty (binutils package) as it shown during the ./configure.

I downloaded the package from the following site:
http://www.sunfreeware.com/libiberty.html

Based on the instruction, i just need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the unzip folder (lib). However, my ./configure still report an error.

Code:
configure: error: Please install libiberty (binutils package)
make: ***[config.status] Error 1
Does anyone have any experience using this package?

Have you thought about installing it through your package manager? What distro are you using?

'libiberty' is not a file found in a "normal" binary package.

Is used internally, when building 'binutils', 'gcc' ( + gdb ).

If you have Fedora, CentOS, RH EL, the debuginfo repos can be enabled.
[ "debuginfo.repo" / "update-debuginfo.repo" ]

And # 'yum install binutils-debuginfo' will provide the files.

I don't think, you can build an alien libiberty from the site you show.
Must probably be an exact match for the binutils version, already installed.
>> You will get a libiberty also, if you compile your binutils version.
( Important : use a build/ directory outside binutils/ )
