libfam.la not found

I was trying to install Kmess from source -

Configure went fine
make asks for libfam.la :-(

I installed fam from rpm successfuly. I do have a file named

/usr/lib/libfam.so.0.0.0

Still make wont succeed.

And I cant find fam development libraries on the web . Is there something wrong that I am doing at the configure stage ?

tar -zxvf kmess*
cd kmess
./configure --prefix /usr
make

I cant figure this out!

Can someone help ? Thx

libfam.la

Hi

libfam.la is in the devel package

just look for "fam-devel" in yahoo, or any other search engine.

Bye.

works with me

Hi, this worked fine with me.
Some things to note:
*in mandrake 9.1 you have the package version 2.6.9 ,
so the development version should also be 2.6.9 (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/6/idpl/408081).
With me, installing 2.6.5, the link in the previous reply, didn't work.

*note also that 2.6.10 does not seem to contain the libfam.la library in all rpms that can be found on the net, so make sure the one you download contains it.

Succes.

A quick update for anyone with this similar problem...
If you're running Mandrake 9.1(+) you can just use the install cds.
RPMdrake.. search for 'libfam' .. and install the devel package.
