Can you describe the trouble you are having. Libavcodec is a library of video/audio/subtitle encoder/decoder functions. These are used mostly for watching video.

libavcodec 2

I am running Linux Mint 17; about 3 week ago my capacity to view some videos became impossible. And something to do with Libavcodec. Sense then I have learned that libavcodec is a sub file to a much larger file call ffmpeg, which was upgraded sometime in October, to ffmpeg-3.2.1.tar.bz2. I have downloaded the new program to my linux mint 17 downloads file and now I am trying to figure out how to install it from downloads.

I've been getting a warning about it too in Firefox on Ubuntu 14.04.
Code:
libavcodec may be vulnerable or is not supported, and should be updated to play video
