Lexmark USB Printer compatibility with Ubuntu 9.04

I use my printer a lot, and since switching to Ubuntu I find I can't use it anymore. I've tried a fair few things and none of them seem to work so far. If anyone could help me out here, that'd be great.
Thanks in advance.

Sure we can help. But it'd be nice if you posted the exact model of the printer. You could also try and search for "Lexmark Model # linux" and see if anything comes up. Also, just to get it out of the way, you can run
Code:

lsusb
so we can confirm that you computer at least sees the printer (please post the output within CODE tags =) )

The printer model is X5650. Forgot to include that.
Code:

allecapa@ashley-desktop:~$ lsusb

For your convenience.
Thanks Meson.

Well, I should have state this before, but AFAIK, Lexmark printers are known not to do very well under linux. I set out up one time with the driver for a completely different Lexmark printer (worked well though). Unfortunately I don't even see your printer listed here: http://www.openprinting.org/printer_...i?make=Lexmark

You can try setting it up with a driver for a reasonably similar model. (In my case the models were not similar in the slightest =) )
