Lexmark 1100 on SuSE 10.0 - Dead Ends Everywhere

I guess I am just to much of a newbie to follow directions.

I received about six good links on how to do this, but for every one either the link is dead, the instructions don't work (or I don't understand the error messages enough to correct)

Latest problem:
When installing with an rpm i get the following:
cups not available
required by:
z600cups requires cups >= 1:1.1.15-10
Conflict resolution
Remove the Referring Package
do not install z600 cups
Ignore conflict and risk system inconsistencies.

Any help?

thanks,
fritz@langgang.com

Success! - Well, partial

Ok. I got the printer part to work, so I'll answer my own post.

I was getting the YAST error on the Z600 drivers install. I told YAST to go ahead and ignore the notice that my CUPS was not the right version. (I figured I started from scratch a few times before I could do it again if need be).

It completed, I went to my Control Center, selected the printer, told it that it was a Z600 (which finally was on the list) and tested. The printing worked.

Now for the scanner....and advice?

langgang.
