LenovoEMC NAS 8TB ix-300d
 
i have a 3 ays old sn# RYA3230319 which installed on windows and mac with no problems however it will not install on my ubuntu 13.10 Verson.
i went on Lenovoemc website https://lenovo-na-en.custhelp.com/ap...lp/p/1189,1193 Ialso call 800-904-6354 and spoke to a Tech, needless to say againe He was useless and could not help me they only have the management software for ubuntu 11.0, needless to say that did not work,
I need help to get my LenovoEMC NAS 8TB ix-300d with ubuntu 13.10
Can someone help me with a work around or some way of geting some king of management softears thet will work in my Ubuntu 13.10.

(1) Most of these units can have ssh enabled. You could then ssh into it and do whatever you need to do for maintenance. However that is probably not as easy as using their pretty GUI.

(2) You could run Ubuntu 11 or another one of the linuces on the supported list in a virtual machine just for this purpose. That might be overkill, but it'd work.

(3) You could try installing the Windows version under WINE, but I doubt it'd work. Still, doesn't hurt to try.

(4) You could downgrade to Ubuntu 11 or one of the other supported linuces.

I'd recommend option #2

[EDIT] Or you could do what many people do: you could get annoyed at the manufacturer, swear you'll never buy from them again, post multiple screeds about it or hope they come out with an updated piece of software. Works for me. ;).
Seriously, these things often have a web interface if you point your browser at it with port 80 or port 8080.
