learning the hardway
 

hi all,
i started trying to play with linux a while ago and had to put it aside for a while but recently tried to pick it up again. but i have a problem. i kinda forgot the passwords. i tried to reformat and reinstall but its not recognizing my cd drive on boot. it acts like its not even there. so i guess my question is if theres anyway to change the password or get it to recognize my cd drive for a reformat. im running suse 8.1 on a laptop. the cd drive is a usb burner. not sure if thats enough info but can post more if i know what to look for.

Have you set the BIOS to boot from CD or USB and then to boot from harddisk ?
It seems as you have to make a boot floppy (again) to boot from floppy an get the cd + usb driver from there ?
