Learning

thanks for reading.

Will the ethernet work in safe mode, but not in full desktop? I'm so new let me back up to explain myself. Two days ago flawless in full desktop, today, I randomly inserted the usb trendnet tew-424ub only to fool around, and poof, internets gone.

Here's the thing, I had nearly every tool to test the internet work like a champ. Pinged google like 200 times cause I couldn't figure out how to make it stop, but it worked.

Then ran the very basic network diagnostic and both the LAN and Wireless lan said, 100%.

Now, here's the kicker i'm still falling from, I start the Asus 900A Xandros machine, in Safe mode, and viola, here I am typing after sweating for a while trying to get, firefox to say something, anything.

I'm a bit of a PC nerd, and I really really love Linux, about as much as I don't understand about it. But I own it, I love it, but I'm like a retarded kid chasing a balloon out here. Ouch, that pole hurt.

What gives,

Dave.

Do you use the wireless every now and then just for testing to see if it will work?
In other words did it at some point work with the dongle and only the dongle?

I'm guessing in a command shell? Use Ctrl-C !

Give us a little bit more to go on, mate ! ;)

Where's the thanks button. I swear i do know a bit about a few things PC. So, The Trendnet wifi doggle was just a test to see what would happen the first time I tried to just "plug and play" it was about 3 seconds after I inserted it that I remembered this sweet machine in front of my wouldn't know what that usb device was. I flashed from windows back to linux. I really do look forward to learning all about this operating system, but so far I've been breathing deep often and trying to figure things out. I have a fabulous gigabit ethernet and a working wifi internal card, however my intentions will soon take me to working with attached wifi usb doggles. It seems currently I'm so new that to tread lightly is key.

Like, where the heck is...

It's bed time, but really I'll pickup where I left off. Let me just say I'm proud to support free operating systems instead of old billy out in western west, washington.

I suppose the next step is to research which wifi doggles have...

I'm confused. But learning.

Stick with me, I'm worth it,

D.
