ldconfig problem

hello everybody,
when i do /sbin/ldconfig i get the following error:
File /usr/lib/libartsbuilder.so.0.0.0.#prelink#.bp1gAw is empty, not checked. how to mend this?
is this also the reason why my xmms crashes when i reboot my system after installing xmms? before reboot xmms works fine. i use rhel 4, on p3 933mhz.
thanks in advance.
anirban.

That is a bizarre name for a library. You may need to reinstall the kdemultimedia3-sound package. ( That is the package that supplied libartsbuilder.so on my system. )

What does "rpm -qf /usr/lib/libartsbuilder.so.0.0.0.#prelink#.bp1gAw" say.

For another thing, version "0.0.0" doesn't make sense either. This looks like maybe an aborted attempt at building libartsbuilder. Do you have another version of libartsbuilder.so?

Verify the kdemultimedia3-sound package.

If you have a normal libartsbuilder.so library, move /usr/lib/libartsbuilder.so.0.0.0.#prelink#.bp1gAw out of the way like /root/ (at least temporarily) and run "sudo /sbin/ldconfig". I think the real solution is to simply delete the file. Getting it out of there is a safer alternative. Also if this file is indeed empty it won't be able to do anything.

ran into /usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so.0.100.0 is empty, not checked.

vming slackware6413 in windows7

didnt notice it before but just ran slackpkg and ldconfig was saying ldconfig:
File /usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so.0.100.0 is empty, not checked.
ldconfig: File /usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so is empty, not checked.
ldconfig: File /usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so.0 is empty, not checked.

googled and couldnt find anything, checked here for "is empty, not checked." found this post

slocate libgeg
/usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so.0.100.0
/usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so
/usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.la
/usr/lib64/libgegl-0.0.so.0

moved them to another folder, ldconfig was clean

thanks jschiwal
