ldconfig deletes the link that I create using ln -s in /usr/lib

I created a link for a library my application needs in /usr/lib/ and then run ldconfig.
The link gets deleted.

Should I be creating the link in any other way?

Thanks

Been a while but i think you have to add the link to /etc/ld.so.conf then run ldconfig
