Ldap question

Hello every one,
I am newbie in Linux and recently a need for LDAP came up in a student project. What i need is either to find a free LDAP server to connect to and check the authentication functionality of a moodle installation or setup an LDAP server with a schema to connect from my server to my personal computer.

Any ideas? I followed the steps of this guide: http://www.debuntu.org/ldap-server-a...x-ldap-clients

and i think everything is all right with these steps. Now what else should i do? How can i connect to my computer from the server where my moodle installation is hosted. I can keep my computer on and online for as long as it takes in case for the test to be done - otherwise i guess i can update the IP and connection settings in moodle.

Thanks in advance,

Antonis

Hi Antonis,

Welcome to LQ!

I don't understand - if you followed all those steps, why
would the need for an external LDAP server arise? You
should just have created one there and then.

Cheers,
Tink

LDAP setup

Hello and thanks for the quick reply.
The thing is that i don't know how to connecto to my LDAP - if i set it up right after all.
The reason i am asking for an external LDAP service is just because i need to test that moodle woks fine with LDAP authentication before migrating to the final server that has access to LDAP anyway. I just want to make a demonstration that it works. So, i dont know if it is worthwhile makeing all this mess setting LDAP to my pc, spending even more time if there is a free server to connect and make my tests.

Thanks again.

Antonis

The "test" is in the page you gave, too:

Code:
ldapsearch -x -b dc=debuntu,dc=local
