LCD -> VGA (TV) not working

I have a SONY FXA63, i know its about a year or so old but I have video out with like RCA cables, one of the only reasons I still have windows on this computer is because I want to see movies on my TV with my computer. I connect my computer to the tv and just press (fn -> F8[LCD -> TV]) and walla, my computer screen on TV. But it doesn't worn in Linux, I use Fedora Core and I had Red Hat 9 before and it still didnt' work, can anyone tell me what I can do? Thanks.

is there a way to do this with a terminal command or a gui?, I'm not even sure that it sends video to an LCD Projector, so maybe that could help.
