Launching Linux

I'm new. I'm a dual-booter.

I recently purchased suse linux 9.1. i installed in sucessfully, but the problem lies in the fact that though I was able to use after I installed it, after I restarted the computer, all that came up was a screen asking if I wanted to boot windows or from a floppy disk. Any help would be appreciated.

Try reinstalling lilo or grub (whcihever you use), if lilo then do an "expert" install, install to MBR and remember to add both linux and windows partitions.

partitions shouldn't be a problem... I have Xp on one Hard drive, C:/, that has 40gb, and Suse on another hard drive, D:/ with 80 gigabytes.

what ror told you, is to reinstall grub or lilo and that you make sure you install them on the MBR(Master Boot Record).

I barely know what GRUB or LILO are, much less how to reinstall them. I know my computer has GRUB. It's a 3 year old gateway.

Suse linux must have some rescue mode, put the cd, and search for it.
For example: In Fedora, you have to type: linux rescue
After you enter to the rescue mode, select "reinstall bootloader" and from there you can do it yourself.
