How are you connecting to the remote computer?

Type, in a terminal,

The output should be something like this:

12:06:37 up 19:27,  3 users,  load average: 0.39, 0.40, 0.74
USER    TTY      FROM              LOGIN@  IDLE  JCPU  PCPU WHAT
bratmon  tty2    -                11:00    1:06m  0.22s  0.13s -zsh
bratmon  :0      -                11:04  ?xdm?  5:20  0.07s /bin/sh /usr/bin/startkde
bratmon  pts/0    :0              11:04    1:02m  0.00s  0.04s /usr/bin/kwrited

That :0 is the display name that's running kde. Type

export DISPLAY=':0'
Then just enter the name of the program you want to run.

If by GUI you mean Xorg windows you ask about vnc, for example .deb package vnc4server or similar. But for more info you must tell which distribution you have.

Thanks Bratmon,
I am trying to run a Qt application on ubuntu-8.10(remote-computer) . But the look of the gui is not the same as launching on the application on the local computer. How to solve it.
