Launch a ncftpput script clicking on desktop icon
I want to click on an icon on the Desktop that would automate an ncftpput. The file I created is called contains this:
ncftpput -u me -p mine -DD remote_dir local_dir

My question is, how can I have this execute from an icon on the Desktop?

I have the pervioiusly mentioned file on the desktop and when I click on it nothing happens. When I create a launher pointing to it nothing happens.

I guess I would say I don't know what I am doing but y'all already know that.

Any help is appreciated.

I would guess your problem is that the file on the desktop isn't executable. If you use the GUI, right click on your icon, and find the permissions. It should be executable, but by default most likely isn't. Or from the CLI, do a chmod u+x /path/to/your/shortcut.

I have changed the properties to execute yet it does not transfer filed. In fact the terminal window breifly appears then disappears if I select run in terminal.

Could be a problem with the syntax, or any other number of things. Try running it from a terminal - not in a terminal from the gui, actually open up a terminal, navigate to /home/you/desktop/, and ./filename. Please post the errors or output that you get from the program.
