latest update patch created wifi connection problems

Hi all, hope you can help,

I have linpus lite (acer aspire one and love it) but the latest update patches (april 4th 09) have put my little computer into a tailspin.

it no longer finds my default wifi setting -- and I can't access Network Centre to reset it all. and if I do connect (after babysitting it when it searches for a wifi network and clicking it to my default), it will just shut down without warning.

I realise it is probably a compatibility issue between the new patch and the old file, but I"m not savvy enough to know where to look to remove the old file (if that's the problem).

any help is appreciated,

patches were:
network manager 180076
operating system 180074
gnome media 180081
ucview 180079
live update 180075
q101 3g modem 180080
