I repartitioned my hard drive. I had windows vista first then I tried to install ubuntu 8.04 some where around step five of the installation the computer stalls and nothing happens. I decided to wait to see if any thing would happen and I slept during that time.


I woke up in the morining with the laptop battery led blinking in orange. and when I tried to start the laptop, it would start for 2 seconds with black screen, during which you see the HDD led light and the the light is off and the computer dies. it never starts no bios nothing. I tried pushing the power button several times, always the same.

PS. when I sleep I take the power cord off because the cable is not long engouh. so maybe the battery drained I dont know.

You answered your own question - the battery died.
Give it a a very long charge and see what happens. Don't try running the laptop while it is charging.

thank you for your answer. I wasnt sure of it. but I removed the battery and started the computer on AC electricity from the walls outlet and the computer started.

I hope after a very good charge it will work again. and I hope it is not damaged.
