Laptop HP 60-249WM designed for vista and installed debian with network errors
Hello,
Running iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wmaster0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"smack" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Encryption key:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 The wifi connection is called smack using wep2 with paraphrasing. I have a rj45 connection with no problems. At first was not establishing ip address from dhcp but found if I put my ip in it would alway's connect. Looking threw other forums found a problem that I think is the same I have. I found nothing to show wep2 capable. Do I need to use the windows driver with ndiswrapper? Thanks for any help! I'm very new to linux. |
Update,
When I am able to connect with wifi the signal strength is 0%. The static ip that I have tried to use is 192.168.1.70 on the wifi router. This ip is one that I put in while trying to force connection, the wifi router is set to give out 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.150 for dhcp. Loaded wifi-radar to see if the wifi on this laptop detects anything. Nothing is found at all. Thanks! |
