laptop camera activation

I am new to Linux. I would like to activate my on board laptop camera. I thing I need the driver, but don't know which driver or where to get it. I am running Ubuntu 10.04, on a system 76 laptop.

Hi cdouglas911, Welcome to LQ. Which System76 model do you have? They typically come pre-configured with all hardware working.

Good luck. ;-)

Hi Cdouglas911;

You don't say which desktop you're using, KDE, Gnome, XFCE, etc. If Gnome, try opening cheese and have it take a picture. It should have set up the webcam during install.

On my eee pc there is a BIOS setting for my camera. It didn't start working in my Linux until I enabled the camera within the BIOS.
