install & unintall

hello all,

can anybody tell me how to uninstall the program that are installed in the

/usr/bin or /usr/slin or /usr/local .

i have redhat relaese 9(shrike).

my linux is on /dev/hda5.

doesn't that version of Redhat have a graphic installer for rpm's?

If so, you should probably be able to find the install/uninstall facility, but you may have to be logged in as root to do that.

Red Hat, being an RPM based distro will use
rpm -e <programname>
to uninstall.

If you compiled from source and you still have the sources, then do "make uninstall" as root from the source directory of the package you installed.

LAN over Linux

hello all

i am an engg student and in my hostel my four friends has

connected LAN by four computer and i want to connect their

LAN in linux(redhat release 9).

so anybody can tell me, how to connect to lan in linux?

how to configure LAN in linux(exact procedure).

i will be very thankful for you intelligent guy.

in terminal window.
netconfig <enter>
if DHCP is enabled select dhcp else get network settings from friends and type in.
once accepted type in service network restart
