lacp timeout, modem hangup

Am using Minicom to dial out to my ISP. After getting connected ,i exit without resetting and go

# pppd /dev/ttyS0 to launch ppp.

However, i get the eroor "LCP config requests timeout, connection terminated."

Apparently, the remote host was launching ppp later by which time, my box had already sent the default number of LCP requests (10 i think) and receiving no answer timed out.

I edited /ppp/options file and added lcp-max-configure = 25 .
However its still not working because now i get, " modem hangup, connection terminated" as the exit message.

( I also waited till the remote host sent the ' ~ ' character before firing up my ppp, with the same result....)

anyone have any ideas?

thanks and regards,

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.

I have asked that this thread be closed. The twin to this thread can be found here Please post any replies to it. Thanks -- J.W.
