"L 99 99 99..." error on boot

Hello,
I just did a fresh install of Fedora Core 5. Installation completed without any problems, but when I try to boot I get some text saying L and then 99 repeated about a hundred times. Searching for this error, it seems to be a LILO error message, but I believe I installed Grub, which was the default FC option. The install is to a SCSI drive, which is the only SCSI drive in the system, and was repartitioned according to FC5's default settings. Anyone have any suggestions? Was Grub misconfigured? I went with nearly 100% default options so I don't get what might have gone wrong...
Thanks,
Mike

P.S. I tried searching for this error on the forums here, but 99 is too short a search string, and the search function doesn't allow for phrase searching using paranthesis. ;p

I experienced this too using Mandriva though.

For my case it was due to some components for GUI (KDE, GNOME) was missing and thus it did not boot correctly. After I reinstall these packages, it went smoothly.
