Kyro ll installation problem
Having already downloaded and installed the powervr rpm package, my Kyro ll card was giving a problem free X-window... untill now.
"startx" replies no screen found, XF86Config-4 file seems fine, reinstalling the rpm file indicates that the package is already installed and aborts, while trying to remove it with "rpm el" etc indicates that it is not installed! Help please. |
Try
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0 and then startx |
I've noted down your answer in case I need it in the future thanks for a prompt reply, in the meanwhile I have mucked about with the xfree file and managed to start the x-window server. All my settings are back to first time defaults however. Which files should I back up you think so as to be able to restore desktop icons, menus, keyboard/mouse parameters and colours etc in case it happens again?

You should definetely back up /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file, as for desktop icons and such you can archive the Desktop directory in your user home. BTW what window manager/desktop environment are you using currently? If it is KDE, then back up .kde directory in your user home (note the . it is a hidden directory).
