Kword: How to remove carriage returns?

In Kword If I have text that has carriage returns for each
line, how do I remove them to create text with word wrap?

I tried to do this with search and replace but it does not
seem to replace pattern (hidden or formatting characters).

I wrote my own macro to do this in word. Can you do
similar things in Kword? If so where do I find out how?

I also have macros in word to take an email -cut of the ads
and format it in word and offer to save it under the title
and also to print in different text sizes for relatives
and friends I send them to. Can I do the same things
in Kword? or should I use another open source word
processor. If so which?
