kweather station doesn't exist?
 

hi
how can i use kweather for my city, because i try to set my area in kweather and it seems that kweather can not find any station?
i try to get weather info for santa barbara.
I'm using kde3.5 kweather 2.1

I found 2 stations in your area in about 1 minute. What are to doing to find stations? Step-by-step, please.

I also checked the KWeather help, & it seems pretty lucid on the subject.

when i try to configure kweather, i choose weather service and then choose santa barbara and then update all then ok then it says station doesn't exist and icon shows question mark

1st, you should be using "Display" in "Configure KWeather", not "Weather Service". Go there, use the link to the NOAA site to look up your ICAO code, & enter it.

As I said before, it took me about a minute to find 2 in your area. Hint: the "Harbor" station seems to be non-existent, but the "Municipal Airport" exists, although it was/is experiencing difficulties.

If the Municipal Airport station continues to be useless, you will have to choose the next closer reliable station. Good luck.


BTW, if you live in CA, you ought to know English well enough to capitalize proper names & pronouns (i.e. 'I') and the 1st word of sentences. It annoys a lot of us old farts when you don't do that -- in fact I almost blew off answering your Q because of it.

Use Superkaramba LiquidWeather++ instead
 

As the heading says, I would recommend using LiquidWeather++ theme for Superkaramba. This theme not only gives you sky conditions and temperature, but also wind direction, pressure, relative humidity, "feels like" temperature, radar shots, local webcams, detailed one hour forecast for the day, a 5 day forcast, etc - all this in a whole slew of languages. All in all, IMHO, it's the best weather reporting tool for linux.

Assuming I dared install Superkaramba (it insists on updating 179 other packages), what is involved in using this theme?

Is it included? or is there another download?

Superkaramba is an engine (very similar to konfabulator on Windows/OS X) that is used to display a large number of eye candy themes/widget/tools/programs. Each theme (that's what superkaramba community calls them) is downloadable either directly from superkaramba or from http://www.kde-look.org. These themes are usually small, although the more graphics a theme has, the larger the size. LiquidWeather++ is about 4M because it has such a rich set of icons. Check out http://liquidweather.net for more info about this theme in particular.

When I google kweather, I found that my kweather "Display" tab in "Configure Weather" is somewhat different that the one I find. I can only click the drop down list of weather station and it only contains unknown station. I can not add manually or type anything to this list.

I'll give LiquidWeather a try.
