kvm switch doesn't work

Hello everyone! This is my first post and I'm definitely a newbie so if I should post this in another thread I apologize.
I'm running 2 computers; one is windows 7 ultimate 64bit and the other is an HP Compaq with a first generation Athlon processor running Ubuntu 11.10 32bit. I'm using a Trendnet kv 207k kvm switch to switch between them. When I first installed the kvm switch it worked perfectly using the scroll lock to switch back and forth. But after installing a larger hard drive on the Ubuntu 11.10 Compaq from 10gb to 40gb and installing Ubuntu 11.10 on it the kvm only works from win 7 to Ubuntu and not Ubuntu to win7. From other searches I can't find a solution. Any help greatly appreciated.

MM

An OS upgrade shouldn't really have any effect, the KVM interprets keystrokes before they're sent to the pc/s.

Do the buttons on the KVM work properly?

Thanks for helping me on this!

Yes the buttons work as expected. Although when I switch to Ubuntu from windows 7 I have to cycle the usb connector on the mouse in order for it to work. The keyboard works without recycling the usb connector.
