Kubuntu with Fluxbox: Screensavers and power management?
Hello all,
I have Kubuntu 13.10 up and running and I decided to give Fluxbox a try so I installed it via Muon with no issues. Now in my login manager I'm able to select Fluxbox as an option and log in without any problems. I have a few related questions. 1.) I don't believe Fluxbox uses Kubuntu's screensavers - should it? 2.) If not, should I go with something like xscreensaver? 3.) I've noticed that in Fluxbox, after some time of inactivity the screen turns off. Where do I configure the time it takes to turn off the screen? |
If your display uses dpms, that could be why the screen is blanking.
I'm unsure as to why you'd want to use fluxbox in a KDE distribution? You'd be better off with a lighter distribution and just installing xorg, fluxbox and whatever else you need from scratch... Anyway, to load the screensaver, or anything else, you need to add it to your ~/.fluxbox/startup Any services (e.g. network and volume applets, power manager, etc) you want to run at startup need to be added here.
