I'm not seeing your audio device there at all. It would be listed under "Multimedia audio controller" if it was there. If lspci doesn't see it, I don't see how you'll ever get it to work.

You say it's a Dell Optiplex. Those are the business desktop computers. Did you inherit this machine from work?

Maybe the audio interface has been diked out or physically disabled in some way. Companies sometimes do this.

Yea, looks like a second hand(older) box with either a missing sound card of defective one. Get a sound card compatible with alsa. Check alsa compability list beforehand.

I have the same problem with my GX1. Suse worked with it up through 10.1 and 98'works. I'm trying to get it to work with Kubuntu now but may give up.
