Kubuntu, DVD drive won't open, light blinking

Kubuntu 10.04 64-bit
Gateway laptop

I popped in a scratched up CD of my wife's friend's music.
It would not play or copy, had to just try anyway.

So now the optical drive tray will not open, and the light is blinking. I have restarted the machine.

Could this be my OS or other software error?

Try this command in terminal:

Code:
eject cdrom
If that doesn't work, then you might try straightening a paperclip and sticking it in the hole on the CD ROM door - they are usually spring loaded and will usually release this way.

I'm pretty sure it's the CD causing this.
