Question Kubuntu 8.10 Live Disc wont run. Buffer i/o error on device sr0 logical block 179020

I'm trying to run a Kubuntu 8.10 live disc and have also tried running others such as Mandriva 9. The install stops in Kubuntu with the message Buffer i/o error on device sr0 logical block 179020. I've run a memory test with Kubuntu and it's OK. I burnt the disc using a slow burn speed and media that's been OK in the past. I also can't get Parted Magic ISO to run.
