KTorrent stalled on foo.torrent but bittorrent under XP does fine on foo.torrent.

Hi:
I run KTorrent on a certain .torrent and, in the status column, after allocating disk space, it says 'stalled' and remains in this status for ever. However, if I boot in winXP and run bitTorrent on the same .torrent, after some minutes it begins to download. What can possibly be the cause. And what is the meaning of that word 'stalled'? Any hint will be wellcome.

Stalled simply means that there are no active connections to sources being made. Either there are no sources available, or none of them are able to upload to you at that time.

Connection problems like this are usually caused by firewall blockages. Try enabling the uPnPPlugin, which is designed to automatically configure port forwarding. If that doesn't work you'll have to figure out where it's being blocked and manually forward or open up the ports you need.

Google can give you much more info about torrent clients and connection problems.

Thank you for your post, David the H. OK. And how could I know if I have firewall enabled? I run Xfce 4.4.
