Unhappy Kopete0-.10.1.tar.bz2

alright can someone help me unzip that thing..........ive tried other threads but no they just go...........go to the upacked directory using cd <directory> like i know what that is!

To extract the files in the archive use the following command:
tar -x [FILE]

Also, the 'cd' command is to change the directory that the terminal is working with.

If it's a .bz2, you do "tar -jxvf ......" or "tar -yxvf ......" and then cd into the directory.

Alternatively, do :
"bunzip2 ........bz2" and then do "tar -xf .......tar"

If it ends .tar.gz you do "tar -zxvf ....."
