No matter how many times I go into the Kopete configurations and verify the passwords are correct, I still get a "The password was wrong" error when trying to start an IM. This behavior occurs with all IM accounts on Kopete.
You might want to look at which locale you are using. The character encoding used may be different than when you set up the account. You can enter the command "locale" by itself to print out the various locale settings. You can also precede a command with a variable assignment.
E.G.:
LC_ALL=en_US.iso885915 kopote
An assignment like this will be be live in the environment of the kopote command (child process) and not later commands or other programs.
If this works, you can modify its icon's properties and add the assignment before the command. Also try "kopote --help" in the console, and see if you can change the settings with a command line argument.
So now, when I got to Meebo.com, to try to have at least some communication with the outside world, it says it won't allow me to sign on because my accounts are signed on somewhere else. Obviously Kopete is screwing all this up. How to fix???
