Kopete AIM connection problems
Right now I am using AIM for Linux but I'd rather use Kopete instead. Whenever I attempt to connect to the AIM server in Kopete it momentarily connects, and then disconnects within the second it does connect.
Right now I am running Kopete 0.8.1 on KDE 3.2.1 on SuSE 9.1 Personal, and I do plan to upgrade to 9.2 over the weekend.

Any chance you're blocking the port with a firewall?

I thought that at first but then I disabled my firewall. Totally clueless on this one.

First post, woohoo!!!
I've also been experiencing this same issue with AIM and Kopete. I haven't got a large amount of Linux experience, so I can't really offer much in the way of explaining the situation, but I'm definitely getting the same response from Kopete. MSN seems to work, and I set up another AIM account just to see what would happen, and it connected just fine (though it would not show people as being online).
I'm currently running Mepis from CD... if anyone has any answers to the great Kopete question, I'm sure that we would very much appreciate it! Ta-ta.

I switched to Fedora Core 3, so I don't have the problem anymore.
