Maybe I'm missing something. I didn't see anything about the titlebar/panel "marker" for gnome-terminal
(nor any mention of gnome-terminal at all) in that thread. It was all about changing console prompt strings, disabling color in terminal windows, and clearing the history when the last terminal window was closed.
I should explain that I often use Konsole and gnome-terminal at the same time, because I find it easier to have one pointed at one or two specific local folders (I haven't, and likely won't, set up SMB/CIFS for sharing, or anything else remote-host-oriented), and the other elsewhere. From time to time I fool myself into thinking it saves on the number of bash shells spawned, though I know it doesn't. With the two emulators having different "rules" for how to set what's shown on the titlebar, I (all too often) click on Gterm when I mean to click on Konsole and vice versa.
And while it's somewhat off-topic, if there's a terminal emulator that does the same as Konsole with its tab titles, and doesn't by default sit up in the right-hand corner of the screen, I'd like to know about it. A link to such an animal would be much appreciated.
