Unhappy Konqueror stopped working on Mandrake 10.1

I've installed Mandrake 10.1 and after a few days of use Konqueror stopped working.

I couldn't figure out why so I've reinstalled Mandrake and Konqueror worked fine but then it died again.

If I click on Home Konqueror seems to start but after a few minutes nothing happens.

I have also noticed that the usual CD Rom and Floppy icons on my Desktop have also disappeared.

Any ideas on how to get Konqueror working again and why is this problem happening ?

Start Konqueror from the command prompt and see if you get any error messages.

$ konqueror

If you get error messages and you don't understand them post them up here and someone will try and help.
