Konqueror redirects me to search if I go home

Hello There you all

I have A weird problem I would not say error but a problem no less

Here goes,
In Konqueror if I would like to go to home ,or up or I use the location bar to find
a directory on my drive Konqueror takes me to Search&Replace.

the only way I can use home or up or location bar is if I open Konqueror through
Quick Browse Icon on my Bar

now i had a problem before (not the same error) and someone said run (" urpmi libquanta0-kfilereplace")
witch fixed the other problem but this in turn created this weird error for me anyway

now I did try and change settings in Configure Konqueror but if I change something
it freeze and the application is killed.

so there it is
I just have to say I don't get any error messages apart from the freezing

Hmmm,

I see you are using RedHat 9, and Mandrake 6.5??????.

Where have you been all these YEARS?

Most of us will have forgotten how to fix weird errors in such old distributions! Do you think it might just be time for an update?

Well, we are probably all running our asses off, but I won't bother you with the details.....

Sorry, didn't think I'd lectured you, just trying to help you out.....

In that case, you probably already know a great deal more than I do. I do not even know who Cysco are!

Anyway, now I know you are running a recent distribution, I have re-read your original post:

I am not aware of a "Search & Replace" in konqueror. I have only managed to make it work as a filesystem browser, or internet browser. The closest I can get to "Search & Replace" is Tools-> Find Files, but I do not think this is what you mean.

I do not have a "Quick Browse Icon on my Bar" - are you using gnome, or KDE? I do not use gnome.

If you are using konqueror under KDE, you should know that there are several "View Profiles" ie ways of using konqueror. They are accessed by Settings-> Load | Save View profile. What you have selected makes konqueror behave in slightly different ways. Perhaps you should try this?

Talking

Hi there Tredegar

Maybe I should start over

First

I don't need a lecture from anybody please and Thank you

Sorry, didn't think I'd lectured you, just trying to help you out....

This was not for you just a general comment about were to post in the forum
So I apologies .

now
If I open Konqueror with Start ---Internet ----Konqueror
And I use the home or Location to type /home/......./........ I get a dialog that comes up that at the top say SEARCH & REPLACE in Files.? and at the bottom it has
Search now , Search Later , and Cancel.

Now if I make a link wit quick brows to lets say / and it opens in Konqueror it works fine the home button plus the Location :/.........

My desktop is KDE
And yes Tredegar i have some profiles setup, OK I fixed it...

Thanks Tredegar I deleted all my Profiles and created new ones with my layouts
it looks like it was just this profile never thought of that, see it is the little tings we overlook that is the problems

And by the way Cysco systems is Networking almost the same as MSCE Networking.

So you could ignore the above explanation

Hi there Tredegar

Now I feel very small

Here is the fix
In Konqueror in home directory when you view your home folders or root
it has a couple of options like icon view , tree view, photobook, File size view and then it has KfileReplace and that was on and it does not return to old few by itself
you have to click it again . Did that and error (stupidity) is gone

Thanks again
John Viviers

Go read and get wise.
