when i click the home directory shortcut on my desktop the file system browser seems like it is starting but then vanishes. same with the konqueror shorcut on the panel.
if i call the shortcut from the terminal like /var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop i get this error below;

btw if i call /usr/bin/konqueror from terminal no problem at all.
i just switched form redhat 9 to fedora core a month ago. i am also using kde.

Right-click on the symbols and make sure the paths and file names are given correctly.
Try running "konqueror" command in a terminla and see if it opens. If it does, make the command for the desktop shortcut "konqueror --profile filemanagement".
Konqueror ".desktop" files can not be "run", only kde knows how to run them, like if you double click them.
i tried to run "kfmclient openProfile filemanagement" from terminal just to understand what the problem was but no luck, not even an error message, it just terminates abrubtly.

Same here. Not only konqueror, but kdict and other things did not work. The only way I got back to normal was by deleting ~/.kde
