konqueror is not starting...

when i click the home directory shortcut on my desktop the file system browser seems like it is starting but then vanishes. same with the konqueror shorcut on the panel.

if i call the shortcut from the terminal like /var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop i get this error below;

/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop: line 1: [Desktop: command not found
/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop: line 4: openProfile: command not found
/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop: line 12: директория: command not found

/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop: line 70: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Home.desktop: line 128: syntax error: unexpected end of file

btw if i call /usr/bin/konqueror from terminal no problem at all.

i just switched form redhat 9 to fedora core a month ago. i am also using kde.

any help would be appreciated.

Right-click on the symbols and make sure the paths and file names are given correctly.

Try running "konqueror" command in a terminla and see if it opens. If it does, make the command for the desktop shortcut "konqueror --profile filemanagement".
Konqueror ".desktop" files can not be "run", only kde knows how to run them, like if you double click them.

thanks beejayzed

i just opened

/usr/share/applications/Home.desktop

and replaced

kfmclient openProfile filemanagement

with

konqueror --profile filemanagement

and it is working

i tried to run "kfmclient openProfile filemanagement" from terminal just to understand what the problem was but no luck, not even an error message, it just terminates abrubtly.

thanks again...

Hi Folks,
I'm having the same problems. Konqueror won't come up. I even tried the suggections above and none of them worked.

I'm using Fedora Core 2.

Thanks

Same here. Not only konqueror, but kdict and other things did not work. The only way I got back to normal was by deleting ~/.kde
