Konqueror History

Hey

Ive looked all over to find how you remove Konqueror's history files but all the sites say to remove the ~/.kde/share/config/konq_history file. Thats all and good but it doesnt delete everything, just the most recent.

How can I totally remove all history from Konqueror?

Thanks,
Nexty

Are you talking about the cache? you can clean that in "Settings-->Configure Konqueror-->Proxies & Cache", or "Kicker-->Preferences-->Web Browsing-->Proxies & Cache", or KDE's "Control Center-->Web Browsing-->Proxies & Cache"

I did that but the 'typed' URLs are still in drop down box (where you type in URLs). I want to know howto clear that.

Thanks,

Here's How to do it

Here is a script that obliterates all history from Konqueror. You need to copy this into a file (maybe scrub.sh), give it permission to execute (chmod +x scrub.sh), and change the pathways, unless your home directory is called /jonathan/.
.
.
rm -f /home/jonathan/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konq_history
touch /home/jonathan/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konq_history
rm -f /home/jonathan/.kde/share/apps/kcookiejar/cookies
touch /home/jonathan/.kde/share/apps/kcookiejar/cookies
rm /home/jonathan/.kde/share/apps/RecentDocuments/*
rm -f /home/jonathan/.kde/share/config/konq_history
touch /home/jonathan/.kde/share/config/konq_history
.
.
You might want to remove the third and fourth lines - they zap the cookies - good for privacy, bad if you have passwords or state information stored in cookies.
.
.
Right click on the desktop to create an icon that runs this script in a terminal. You can also copy this file to your etc/cron.hourly directory, and it will autoblast your history every hour. You need to be superuser to make this change.
.
.
Jonathan
