Hello, sometimes Konqueror doesn't work when I double click on something. It just spins the hour glass. So then I put it into the ole consule and this is what it said:
[root@localhost cdrom]# konqueror
Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-root"
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
Link points to "/tmp/kde-root"
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
kbuildsycoca running...
Link points to "/var/tmp/kdecache-root"
Problem is, I don't know what to do from here. Can anyone help?

thankyou
that's normal if you start it outside of the kde environment, it'll still work the same. give more info on the actual problem ( what are you trying to run when double clicking?)
I am trying to run the program in Mandrake that will open folders on the desktop to see what is inside. I think the equivalent is explorer or some such nonsense in MSW. Usually I have no problems. But sometimes (i think on some boots) it simply doesn't work. I am not sure of the pattern and it is a bit frustrating.
dunno, it's hard to say. I remember I used to have this problem occasionally, but that was back in the 3.0-ish days, I haven't had any problems out of any newer than that.
Mandrake, Suse, RedHat, etc are known to tweak the desktop environments before packaging them, most people don't have problems out of the "untweaked" installs.
