Konquer / Permission Denied

I can't access my Linux partition or CDRom drives. I get Permission denied in Konquer. Thuner(sp?) doesn't seem to mind however and I can access from the prompt and MC.

Thanks Ace

I am not familiar with slack but the partition you are referring to would be 'home' and I know that Konquer does not like to see the cdroms without a data cd in the drive.

fstab

Thanks,

Acutally I only have two Linux partitions. My main Linux part and a swap part. My Home isn't a separate drive.

I can see the drive and access the data. Other programs don't seem to have problems. But while Konquer will see the drive, it tells me it's unmounted and won't give me the permission to mount. I use the shell and it tells me the drive is already mounted.

I'm sure it has something to do with my fstab file but I'm not for sure of the different configurations. I did make a change because HAL wouldn't let me see the drive directories but now I get Perm Denied. I probably need to read up in the fstab configurations.

The slackware installer made this line in /etc/fstab :
#/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,owner,ro 0 0

After editing:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,user 0 0

Now the user will have easy access also with no GUI

Thanks

Hey if I put "user" does it matter if I'm logged on as root? I know, not a very "Linux" thing to do.

Thanks Guys, this worked perfectly for the CDRom at least. I still can't access the Linux drive directly, I have to use a different File Manger

So if anyone has any configuration for the hda2 I'd love to hear it.

Assume you are using kde-desktop and konqueror:
If not on the Desktop, there should be an icon in the sidebar of konqueror called "System"
Click it and find a folder "Media" containing disks and cdrom.
You can link this folder to Desktop for easy access.
Or make an entrance in the menueditor 'kmenu' with the command
'konqueror system:/media'...it's an URL (And copy it to Desktop if you want)

Thanks for the input, but it's the System Icon that I'm refering to. I can get to the Linux drive in Midnight commander, in Thunar, I can even get to the files in System/Konquer but it's initial response is "Permission Denied" and then I have to type the address in the address bar. Once I've done that, I can use the back/forward arrows the move around, but I can just click on system and then click the linux drive. It's not a critical problem but I know it should work correctly and I'm getting tired of working around it all the time. As stated before, accessing the cdrom , after the above suggestion, isn't a problem now.

Thanks again
Ace
